ABOUT DR. MENDEZ
Professional Bio
Dr. Mendez graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2014 and joined Mahan Creek Dental in 2016 after practicing in Montgomery for two years.
Before he began his career in dentistry, Dr. Mendez attended Auburn University and graduated in 2008 with a degree in software engineering. He completed a second major in biology at UAB in 2010. Though he enjoys working with technology and the software behind it, Dr. Mendez realized during his time in Auburn that his true passion lay in his childhood dream of becoming a dentist.
Leadership Involvements
In the last few years, Dr. Mendez has shown a high level of involvement within the dental community. During his dental training at UAB, he served as a class officer and was very active in the American Student Dental Association. Since being in practice, he is a member of the American Dental Association. He has served on the Alabama Committee on the New Dentist as well as the Alabama Dental School Advisory Board.
Dr. Mendez is most passionate about the Acadmy of General Dentistry (AGD). He has quickly become a leader within the AGD at the state level. For the 2018-2019 term, he served as the President of the Alabama AGD. At time of induction, he was youngest AGD member to have attained that honor. Having logged almost 300 hours of continuing education, Dr. Mendez is well on his way to earning Fellowship status within the Academy of General Dentistry.
ABOUT DR. MENDEZ
Personal Bio
Dr. Mendez grew up in McCalla, Alabama and attended McAdory High School. He now lives in Alabaster with his wife Erin and their son Ian. They love dogs and have a heart for animal rescue; their family includes Avery, a yellow lab.
Dr. Mendez enjoys many outdoor activities, especially running. He has participated in Birmingham’s Mercedes Half-Marathon in several times in the past. He also enjoys traveling, photography, and re-discovering his love of Lego with his son.
